Today at the Television Critics Association’s winter event, the CW announced that there will be a Veronica Mars spinoff series on the CW Seed, its digital platform.
Executive producer and series creator Rob Thomas will be involved, according to CW President Mark Pedowitz.
“The Veronica Mars movie got it going,” Pedowitz said. “Rob Thomas is very excited about doing this at CW Seed.”
According to Pedowitz, Thomas has brainstormed the show but “he hasn’t committed to any concept or characters yet.” The series will consist of eight ten-minute episodes.
UPDATE: The spinoff will feature Ryan Hansen according to Rob Thomas. Hansen starred on Veronica Mars as Dick Casablancas and has also starred in Party Down, Hit and Run, and the popular webseries Burning Love.
