Veronica Mars writer and executive producer Rob Thomas is teaming up with fellow Veronica Mars writer Diane Ruggiero for a new CW zombie series.

Thomas and Ruggiero are writing a zombie drama series, iZombie, at Warner Bros. Television Studios that is based on the DC Comics’ concept. The project is currently in development at the CW. This means that if the network likes the script, they will order a pilot and decide whether or not to pick up the show to series.

According to Deadline, the concept is a supernatural crime procedural that focuses on a female medical student who also happens to be a zombie. She works in the coroner’s office in order to eat the brains of the dead but discovers that she also inherits their memories when she consumes them. She uses their memories to help solve these homicides with the help of her boss and a detective.

Danielle Stokdyk and Dan Etheridge are also executive producers on the project.

Thomas also has a series in development with Graham Norris at Fox that is inspired by Les Miserables. Ruggiero also helped write the Warner Bros. film The Veronica Mars Movie and is currently a consulting producer of Bates Motel.

What do you think of this series idea? Do you want to see more zombies on television? Are you just excited to see the Veronica Mars writing duo team up again?
