Fans of Vampire Weekend can rest easy knowing a new album is not only in the works, but also very close to being finished!
Vampire Weekend hasn’t released a new album in four years, but that doesn’t mean the band hasn’t been hard at work when it comes to creating album number four. So how far along is the band’s forthcoming record?
Ezra Koening recently took to Twitter to let fans in on the progress of the new material.
When one fan tweeted at Koening with a photo of a pie they had made with the message “where’s the album” baked into the crust, Koening replied with a progress report.

Though the tweet isn’t much to go by, Koening offered more insight into the band’s fourth studio album in a lengthy post uploaded to Instagram back in March.
In it, Koening revealed that the band planned to dedicate 2017 to “recording [and] trying to finish ASAP.” Given Koening’s explanation, it sounds like the earliest we can expect Vampire Weekend’s next album to drop is sometime in 2018.
The band’s fourth studio album also marks a bit of a shift in Vampire Weekend’s history as it’ll be the first they record without founding member Rostam Batmanglij. With that in mind, we’ll be interested to see how the band fares on their fourth album without Batmanglij’s influence.
