Recently we have been privy to a handful of cast videos from the CW, and the latest is from one of the last remaining humans. Zach Roerig talks Matt and what he would like to see ahead for his character.

We get quite a bit of information about the filming of the now infamous crash scene. It must have been a daunting task to spend 2 whole days filming underwater. It was well worth it though as it was the catalyst for the dramatic center of season 4, not to mention it had us all in tears.

As one of the last remaining humans (people always seem to want to forget Jeremy), Matt brings a unique quality to the show and it is nice to hear that Zach Roerig agrees and wants to see him stay human as well. He goes on to talk about how Matt is the only character with an untwisted sense of right and wrong, and that he would like to see Matt continue to stand firmly on his moral high ground. As Zach puts it:

“Matt does have a very very strong weapon, and that is a moral compass. Like, Matt is the only character that truly lives by a moral compass. Like, a lot of times certain characters have to stop and think about the right thing to do. Matt’s reaction is constantly and inherently what he believes is the right thing to do.”

We can’t wait to see how Matt takes the news about Elena becoming a vampire, especially as he and Jeremy were trying their best to keep her safe, which ultimately lead to her death. Also, will we see some real bonding between Jeremy and Matt, now that Elena has joined the ranks of the undead?

Make sure to check out these other cast videos if you haven’t already! Kat Graham, Steve McQueen, and Tori DeVitto each take a few moments to let us know what we can expect from their characters this season.

Will Matt feel responsible for Elena’s fate? How do you think Matt will take the news that Elena is in transition? Would you like to see him and Jeremy bond over their loss?
