The CW has renewed several of its most beloved scripted dramas for one additional season each.

The Vampire Diaries, its spinoff The Originals, Supernatural, Arrow, and Reign were all picked up for another season this afternoon by the CW.

News of The Originals and Reign getting a season 2 order is particularly exciting given they are both currently freshman shows.

Some fans who watch both The Vampire Diaries and The Originals were hoping that eventually the two shows would air on the same night, given that they take place in the same world, but it sounds like that won’t be happening due to the success of the current Tuesday night lineup.

“This season we’ve had great success with our new hit series The Originals paired with Supernatural, giving us our best Tuesday nights in years,” said CW President Mark Pedowitz in a press release.

“The Vampire Diaries is No. 2 in its time period in the young adult demos, and with Arrow continuing to gain among young men, and Reign growing its time period, we now have strong nights on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I’m very pleased to announce early pickups for all five series, and let our fans know they’ll have more great drama to look forward to next season.”

These renewals make sense, since all five shows not only have high ratings but they’ve also been loved by fans and critics alike. The Vampire Diaries, for instance, is currently in its fifth season with some of the most game changing and world building mythological episodes yet, while Arrow continues to pull in new viewers and high profiled guest stars.

Notably, Hart of Dixie, The Carrie Diaries, and The Tomorrow People have yet to be renewed. The decision of whether or not they will be is most likely to come around May, but since The Tomorrow People wasn’t even mentioned in today’s press release the odds are not looking good.
