You’ll be able to enjoy The Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals two weeks earlier than planned.
The Originals will now premiere immediately following the season premiere of The Vampire Diaries on October 3.
The Vampire Diaries season 5 will premiere at 8:00 p.m. eastern/pacific, followed by The Originals at 9 p.m. eastern/pacific.
Despite temporarily sitting in the Thursday time-slot for its debut, The Originals will run on Tuesdays as planned beginning on October 8.
The decision to put The Originals‘ series premiere right after Vampire Diaries is a smart one because it can build off its existing fan base.
One concern for the network is that it will be going head-to-head with ABC’s Avengers spinoff show Agents of SHIELD every Tuesday. That concern still has not been addressed, but hopefully there is room for both shows to succeed with separate audiences.
The CW announced their slate of fall premiere dates in June.
