UnReal, one of television’s best summer shows, returns for an even darker second season. Here’s a quick refresher of where we left off in season 1!

How anyone can watch The Bachelor or The Bachelorette after devouring the nauseating tactics in the behind-the-scenes television hit UnReal is a mystery. Luckily, the acclaimed series starring Constance Zimmer and Shiri Appleby is not fighting for ratings or renewals, since the series already scored another season ahead of its season 2 premiere.

Season 2 promises to be jam-packed with even more line-crossing dialogue, brutal manipulation of contestants, and betrayals. Grab your earpiece and get situated on set before the premiere.

Quinn has an overall development deal

Chet dropped the ball in the season finale of both Everlasting and UnReal. When Anna decided to bail on both Adam and their “royal” wedding on live television, Quinn swooped in, negotiating a deal before steering Chet’s train wreck and saving the network from a disaster. So what would anyone in her position ask for? An overall production deal that not only allows her to get out of Everlasting‘s grip, but also stay on the books to develop her next big idea. The Whole Package may not be in the cards, so we’ll have to wait and see what else she comes up with.

Rachel is the new Quinn

With Quinn officially in charge of Everlasting and Chet far removed from any power position, it is up to Quinn to bring on the next Everlasting team. From the bachelor to the ladies to the producers, Quinn is left to hand-select the next crop of master-manipulators and their victims. At the helm of a “ground-breaking” season is Rachel. Will she be as evil as Quinn? Or does she still need the devil on her shoulder calling all the shots?

Madison is the new Rachel

After finding a way to offer Chet something a bit more satisfying than coffee from craft services, Madison found herself in a legal situation she did not want to be a part of. Consent to give Chet a blowjob is one thing; consent to be the person who would give Quinn a golden key to the network is another. Instead of giving into Quinn’s deal, Madison takes a page from her quasi-mentor and gets a field producer gig for the season opener.

Where does Adam fit in?

A “let’s run away together” plot may have fallen through in the season 1 finale, but Rachel and Adam’s story is still not over when the series returns. Though many months and many backdoor deals have transpired between the end of season 1 and the start of season 2, Rachel’s heart and mind are still in the push and pull of Adam and Jeremy.

Rachel’s baggage is getting heavier

Is there anything Rachel can’t handle? Described by Quinn in season 1 as a shark, dead eyes and laser focused on her job, Rachel cannot live that way forever, right? In season 1 it seemed as if she actively searched for her limit. Everyone could sense it. Quinn used it to her advantage, Chet used her need to find power, and Jeremy, well, he tried to get on her good side and get her help. But Rachel doesn’t know what she wants. And for better or for worse, since Jeremy ended the season at the doorstep of Rachel’s mother, we can bet that he will not enter the scene on Rachel’s good side.

UnReal season 2, episode 1, “War,” airs tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
