Thursday night, during the daily fireworks show at Universial Orlando, something unexpected occurred. Optimus Prime of the Transformers movies and television series made an appearance to make a special announcement.

The autobot called all parkgoers to action, “Be prepared to fight!” Transformers: The Ride 3D was announced.

Universal describes it as, “an immersive, next generation thrill ride that blurs the line between fiction and reality. Fusing HD 3D media and flight simulation technology, this epic ride creates an experience unlike anything this planet has ever seen. Based on the popular movie franchise, this mind-blowing new Transformers adventure puts you in the middle of the ultimate war zone. Fight alongside Optimus and try to survive as you protect the All Spark from Decepticons over four stories tall. Remember, the future of the human race is counting on you. Prepare for the greatest battle you’ll ever ride.”

Construction for the new 3D ride is already underway with an expected opening date of Summer 2013.

Universal officials promise that this will be its most action-packed ride to date. Currently the ride is already at Universial Hollywood, and the Orlando version of the 3D simulator ride will be very similar.

Universal did not use this opportunity to announce the other major area under construction right now: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter’s expansion. Hypable has reported on it numerous times over the past year. The latest report had lots of interesting details about the real Hogwarts Express as well as the Gringotts thrill ride. It is expected to open in 2014 or 2015.
