Universal Hollywood’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter now has an official opening date, and the theme park is making sure all of Los Angeles knows about it.

Southern California’s Harry Potter land will be opening on April 7, 2016. The news comes only a few weeks after Universal announced their annual passholder prices for 2016 which start at $139.

On Monday night Universal sent a huge light up into space from the entrance of Wizarding World Hollywood, letting all of Los Angeles know that something big was coming the following day. Between the proximity of the spotlight and the number of lights on Hogwarts Castle, it was clear that this was intended to promote the Wizarding World land.

It was a brilliant PR move on Universal’s part. Everyone in the LA area wondered what that light was about, and today they received their answer.

As a Los Angeles resident myself, I was thrilled to see Universal letting the entire city know that we’re getting our own Wizarding World:

This will be the third Harry Potter world opening on this planet: The first two are currently open in Orlando and Japan.

Hollywood’s Wizarding World will be similar to Orlando’s original park (sans expansion). It’ll include the Harry Potter and Forbidden Journey thrill ride, the Three Broomsticks, and Flight of the Hippogriff. One notable difference: Hollywood’s won’t include the big rollercoaster, Dragon Challenge.

Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood) shot a cute video for today’s announcement with Harry Potter art director Alan Gilmore:
