Everyone is fighting over the egg on this week’s Under The Dome, and not everyone wants to protect it.

Power source

Barbie is being held by some shadowy military organization, and they want the “power source” (egg) that Julia’s holding on to.

The Four Hands and Julia wonder if the same guys that took Barbie are after the egg, and Julia says until she knows that Barbie’s okay, she really doesn’t care about the egg.

Pauline, Lyle, and Sam are pondering the significance of the red door she painted, and decide to go check out the playground Sam and Lyle landed in, to see if the red door is there and if it leads back into Chester’s Mill.

Junior confesses to his dad that he knows Barbie’s alive, and brings him to the cliff to show him where Barbie went over. Jim thinks this is what the dome has been planning for him: He’s going to lead the town to freedom. Junior tells him Barbie said not to jump, and that they think the bad guys are after the egg.

Barbie asks his dad to pull some strings to get him out, but his dad says he’s not that powerful. The only thing that’s valuable enough to trade for Barbie’s freedom is the egg, or the “power source,” as they’re calling it. When he leaves the room, Barbie’s dad yells at one of the guards for not securing the egg, and tells him to do whatever it takes to get it.

Papa Barbie wants Hunter to send another message to Julia. It’s a video, with Barbie’s dad explaining that if Julia doesn’t bring the egg, who knows what will happen to Barbie. Julia doesn’t know what she’s going to do. Melanie freaks out about the egg’s safety.

Barbie outsmarts his guard and knocks him unconscious before unlocking his cuffs and stealing the guard’s gun.

Negotiations

Jim asks Rebecca to get the egg for him, and she says she’ll try to talk Joe into telling her where it is. Instead she goes straight to Julia to warn her. She tells Julia she’s going to have to learn to trust her, because things in Chester’s Mill are only going to get worse.

Pauline’s having visions of a spiral, and it’s making her uneasy. Sam says it’s not safe for them to go back to Pauline’s apartment, but Pauline knows a safe place: Hunter’s house, the home base of the Hounds of Diana. Someone comes to the door, and it’s Barbie, who goes after Sam as soon as he sees him. When Pauline tries to stop him, he reveals that Sam’s a murderer.

Jim goes up to the guardsmen watching the dome with a sign that says, “Who’s in charge? I need to talk to him now.” (Rather sexist assumption there, Jimbo.) A guard brings a computer screen to the dome to communicate. Jim says that he can get them the egg, but only if they deal with only him, and no one else. He wants to bring everyone in town with him, but when that idea is shot down, he asks to bring his son. They agree on that, and the guard shows him the location of the egg on the computer: Angie’s apartment.

Sam explains why he killed Angie, but claims he never touched Junior. Pauline decides they have to go back to the dome to atone for their sins. They tell Barbie they’re all going back to the dome, and when they tell him about the red door, he says he knows where it is: on his dad’s property.

Junior takes the egg from Angie’s apartment because he doesn’t trust his dad. Melanie also doesn’t trust Julia, so they decide they’re going to protect the egg themselves, and Junior knows a special place to take it.

The guard is explaining to Barbie’s dad that they suck at tailing his son when they are interrupted by a message from Barbie at the gate. They rush down there with some guards, to find it’s Hunter’s friend Trevor in Barbie’s hoodie, with a recording device with Barbie’s voice. Dad tells everyone to search the grounds.

We have to go back!

Turns out the red door leads to a root cellar on the Barbara property, and they find a doorway within the root cellar that wasn’t there before. The doorway opens to a cave, and they all file in. Barbie tries to stop Hunter from going in, but he says there’s nothing keeping him in Zenith.

Sam’s leading the way in the tunnel until the Smoke Monster from Lost comes spiraling around a corner and into Sam’s mind, giving him a flashback of a touching moment between him and Junior at Pauline’s funeral. The Smoke Monster shows Barbie his young self playing with a teenage Melanie. Sam and Barbie reappear in the middle of the lake in Chester’s Mill.

The Smoke Monster shows Pauline her current self in the crater with the glowing egg, and Melanie, who says, “This is where it began, and this is where it ends, for all of us.” She shows up in the lake as well. But where’s Lyle? Hunter shows up, but he didn’t see anything. Barbie sets off to look for Julia, Pauline goes to look for Junior, Sam stays to wait for Lyle, and Hunter is just thrilled to be in Chester’s Mill.

Well Junior certainly knows a good hiding spot, and decides to hide the egg where he hid Angie, in the storm cellar. Melanie asks him to stay and lay with her for a while, and he does so, looking super uncomfortable.

Pauline shows up at the Rennie household, looking for Junior. She wanders around the house, admiring how Junior has grown up, until she comes upon Big Jim, who is absolutely flabbergasted to see his dead wife alive and in the flesh, nine years later.
