Amongst PS4 release madness, Sony threw the gaming community a curve ball by announcing an Uncharted PS4 game. But just what will this ambiguous title entail?

In the trailer uploaded on Sony’s YouTube, a voiceover speaks of being buried (alive?) for “over 15 years.”

This could refer to any number of characters in the Uncharted universe. This includes Lazarević, who was Uncharted 2‘s villain. Lazarević was left in the crumbling Shambhala temple as the native guardians mauled him.

Watch the one minute and 12 second teaser trailer, which was uploaded to Sony’s official YouTube account, below:

The voiceover from the trailer reads:

Some chains can never be broken. I lost 15 years buried alive, erased. You left me, rotting in that hell-hole, and never looked back. But you can’t outrun the past. And when it catches up, when all your lies collapse around you, I’ll be there. Sifting. Through. The wreckage.

While the camera pans over a map of the African coast near Madagascar, random phrases appear, such as “For God and Liberty” and “Abandon your hopes.”

It is not yet confirmed whether Uncharted PS4 will follow the story of the series thusfar, or change time periods completely. It is possible that Uncharted PS4 may not star Nathan Drake.

Uncharted PS4 comes as a pleasant surprise to those who’ve preorded Sony’s new console, since Ubisoft’s Blockbuster Watch Dogs‘ release was recently delayed.

No release date for Uncharted PS4 was announced.

The PS4 will be released to the general public tonight at midnight.

Who do you think is speaking in the voiceover?
