Every Uncharted fan’s movie casting dream has finally come true. Where can we petition for more?

Nathan Fillion stars as series protagonist Nathan Drake in this 15 minute long Uncharted movie. The story involves Drake being kidnapped on purpose so that he can steal some important documents, to lead him to a hidden treasure.

This short Uncharted movie has a nice nod to its origins, with a switch between widescreen to fullscreen for the gun shooting action sequence. The detail of changing video presentation formats made us feel like we were watching a literal interpretation of the Uncharted games.

The short ends with Drake meeting up with Sully and Elena to plan the next steps in finding the treasure of the Flor de la Mar.

While it is nice to see Fillion play Drake in this shorter Uncharted movie, it is likely that he will not end up playing Drake in Sony Pictures’ big screen adaptation of the Uncharted series, as Spider-Man actor Tom Holland is rumored to be cast as young Nathan Drake in the official version.

In the meantime, we’ll just have to settle with watching this perfect Uncharted movie short again and again and again.

The Uncharted live action short is directed by Allan Ungar, and also stars Avatar’s Stephen Lang as Sully, along with Mircea Monroe as Elena.

Of deciding to star in the short, Fillion had the following to say in a statement: “Here’s this incredible property, it’s out there, and no one has done anything with it yet. Brilliant characters, gripping stories, tailor made for me — add in Allan’s passion for Uncharted, and talent — why wouldn’t we?”

Impressively, Fillion apparently prepared for the role by training to do most of his own stunts. Are you out there listening, Sony? This man is destined to play Drake on the big screen. Please, please make our and his dreams come true with a full length Uncharted film starring this talented Firefly alum.
