As an avid television watcher, I’m so used to living in America and having a season of a show last at least 10 episodes. But this summer when I started watching Misfits & Skins, I realized that this is not the case for shows filmed over in the U.K. And I just can’t decide if I like that or not!

One of the pros of having a season of a show last 10+ episodes is that you get more out of a series. You get more chances for the main characters to get together, you get more investigations on a cop drama, and you get more fairy tale backstories for the characters we love. But a con is that if you’re just getting into a show for the first time and it’s already a season or two in, you’re going to be playing catch up for significantly longer.

As for the shorter running shows, you get less things stretched out for long periods of time. At least, in the experience I’ve had with Misfits & Downton Abbey. Yeah, there are some aspects of the show that run the entire series, but most of the action and intriguing plot points only take a few episodes to take place. But then again, we have to wait so long for the next season and it’s over in such a quick span of time!

It’s kind of fun imagining the shows currently running as if they were being made in the opposite location. What if Once Upon A Time was a British television show? Would we already have seen Emma believe in Henry? Or what if Misfits was American? Would they have killed more or less probation workers? :P

So what do you guys think? I know there must be a lot of you readers who’ve seen both American & British television, so what do you prefer? Do you like a series to get to the point and finish its season or do you like more episodes to fulfill your craving for fiction?
