Despite Superman’s popularity on The CW’s recently acquired (and renewed) Supergirl, don’t hold out hope for Tyler Hoechlin to get his own show.

As much as we’re loving the idea of a new Superman series essentially being a spin-off of Supergirl, The CW can rightfully be said to have their hands full of superhero shows at the moment.

It is therefore not surprising that The CW, which just renewed all of its Arrowverse series, currently has no plans for the Man of Steel to lead his own series. In fact, even his return to Supergirl isn’t guaranteed.

“Tyler did a great job,” CW President Mark Pedowitz told Entertainment Weekly over the weekend, during the Television Critics Association (TCA) winter press tour. “There’s no plan to do a series. There are no plans at the moment for him to return.”

Pedowitz does note that, “if [the producers] wish to have him return, we’d love to have him.”

Tyler Hoechlin rose to fandom fame as Derek Hale on MTV’s Teen Wolf, and his take on Clark Kent has been one of the many highlights of Supergirl‘s second season so far.

The superhero drama’s move to The CW from CBS has been highly successful, with the show introducing several LGBT characters and managing to create more than one occasion for crossovers with both Arrow and The Flash.

Soon, we’ll be able to enjoy the highly anticipated Supergirl/The Flash musical crossover episode, with none other than The Music Meister making this mayhem possible.
