A Twilight fan has reportedly passed away after being struck by a car early Tuesday morning outside of the San Diego Convention Center. Update: An official statement has been released by Lionsgate and Summit.

10 News initially learned of the news, as further details have identified the victim as Gisella G., a Twilight fan who was one of the brave few who had already lined up for the Twilight panel in Hall H on Thursday.

A new report has received further details of the incident, writing:

The 53-year-old woman, who was in San Diego for Comic-Con at the nearby San Diego Convention Center, was struck at Fifth and Harbor, Brown said.

Police said she was in a crosswalk and tried to run across Harbor about 9:20 a.m. She tried to stop when she saw an oncoming Subaru but ended up tripping into the car, Brown said.

Just yesterday, Comic-Con organizers issued a statement requesting the line disperse.

All of us at Hypable would like to wish Gisella’s friends and family the best in this difficult time, and remember for anyone braving the crowds at Comic-Con this year: Be careful.
