Lionsgate will release extended editions of the first three films in The Twilight Saga in January, the studio announced today.

Twilight (directed by Catherine Hardwicke), New Moon (Chris Weitz), and Eclipse (David Slade) will be released in a three-for-one package and feature the deleted scenes re-added back into the films. This means each film will be a few minutes longer than they were in theaters.

Previous Twilight Saga home entertainment releases have included the deleted scenes, so the only benefit to purchasing these would be to have easy access to the “re-edited” films.

No other special features are included.

Obviously missing from this set is the two-part finale, Breaking Dawn. Fans may remember that an extended edition of Part 1 debuted in 2013, so maybe Lionsgate saw no reason to re-release those two.

…Unless a super-mega-ultimate extended edition box set is on the way!

Lionsgate continues to stoke the fire as they try to build excitement for the recently announced series of Twilight spinoff short films.

We can see these extended editions being a must-have for the diehard Twilight collector, but those of you who already have the DVDs/Blu-rays will probably pass on this set. And like we said, the always-lurking chance of that super-mega-ultimate extended edition will probably entice fans to wait until they see something available that has absolutely everything they want from a box set.
