Tumblr has announced an official book club, and Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl is the very first selection.

Tumblr has launched its Reblog Book Club, a brand new initiative that will utilise the Tumblr platform to encourage a discussion about a chosen book.

The very first book selected is Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, which was just released on September 10. Rowell is the author of New York Times bestselling novel Eleanor & Park, and cult hit Attachments.

The Reblog Book Club discussion will be led by “some very passionate Tumblr bloggers”, and readers will be able to join in using the #reblogbookclub tag. The discussion will be broken down by chapter, to allow readers to follow along without being spoiled.

Week of 9/10: Non-spoiler reactions
Week of 9/17: Chapters 1-12
Week of 9/24: Chapters 13-24
Week of 10/1: Chapters 25-38

Tumblr encourages Fangirl readers to engage in whatever way they choose, from reviews, to fan art, GIFs, and everything in between.

Rowell, who is highly active on Tumblr, will be answering questions through the Ask Box on her own Tumblr throughout the project.

Fangirl is an apt choice for Tumblr, given the subject matter. It focuses on the experiences of Cath, a self confessed Simon Snow fangirl. She reads, rereads, she writes fanfiction, she dresses up as the characters, and she frequents message boards.

That sounds pretty Tumblr appropriate to us.
