After surprisingly (and unfairly) being cancelled by Netflix last year, Tuca and Bertie has been revived for a second season at Adult Swim!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Adult Swim will revive Tuca and Bertie for a 10-episode second season in 2021 with an option for additional seasons.

“I’ve been a fan of Adult Swim shows since my teens, so I’m thrilled to bring my beloved fowl to the party and be a new voice for a fresh decade of absurd, irreverent, yet heartwarming adult animation,” Hanawalt said in a statement.

The deal — in which a linear network revives a Netflix original series — is the second of its kind, following Pop TV’s revival of Netflix original series One Day at a Time for a fourth season after Netflix cancelled it.

Tuca and Bertie is an animated comedy from from creator Lisa Hanawalt and featuring a voice cast of breakout comedians Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong, along with former Walking Dead star Seven Yeun. All three stars will be returning for the second season.

The show is executive produced by BoJack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg, Noel Bright, Steven A. Cohen, along with series creator Lisa Hanawalt and voice actors Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong.

Tuca and Bertie debuted May 3, 2019 to rave reviews from critics and viewers alike, but was then surprisingly cancelled by Netflix after its first season.

Showrunner Lisa Hanawalt wrote a heartfelt thread about the cancellation at the time, saying that “Everyone is still glowing over the reviews and articles and feedback. [Tuca and Bertie] is critically acclaimed and has repeatedly been called one of the best new shows of the year. None of this makes a difference to an algorithm, but it’s important to me and the way I want to continue making art in this world.”

Now thanks to Adult Swim, it looks like she’ll be able to!
