Actor Vince Vaughn is reportedly the latest actor in the running for a role in HBO’s True Detective season 2.

TV Line reported Monday afternoon that Vaughn is in “preliminary talks to play one of the three leads” in the sophomore season of HBO’s beloved drama.

Other names that have been rumored for roles in True Detective season 2 include Friday Night Lights alum Taylor Kitsch and Colin Farrell (Saving Mr. Banks, Total Recall).

The rumor mill had once suggested that a female would take on one of the lead detective roles, but the three men who’ve been recently reported suggest otherwise.

True Detective is an anthology, meaning the show tells a completely different story every season. In other words, season 1 stars Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey aren’t coming back for season 2.

What do we know about the next season? Series showrunner Nic Pizzolatto said in May that season 2 will take place in “lesser known” California towns. Last month, HBO president Michael Lombardo told the media that casting announcements were due very soon, as they work with four lead roles.
