It look longer than expected, but HBO has finally announced the lead True Detective season 2 cast members.

True Detective season 2 has rounded out its core cast by adding Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch, and Kelly Reilly.

The announcement arrives following months of rumors surrounding these stars and many others who were up for the role.

HBO describes each of the new characters as such:

Rachel McAdams as Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County Sheriff’s detective whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves.

Taylor Kitsch as Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle officer for the California Highway Patrol, running from a difficult past and the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened.

Kelly Reilly as Jordan, Frank Semyon’s wife, a former D-list actress who is a full partner in his enterprises and ambitions.

The trio join the two previously announced actors Collin Farrell and Vince Vaughn. Farrell will play “a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him,” while Vaughn will play “a criminal and entrepreneur in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.”

HBO says that production on True Detective season 2 is now underway in California, where the story is set.

“Three police officers and a career criminal must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder,” the show’s log line reads.

True Detective season 1 starred Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, but since the show is an anthology, new actors will star in the show with each new season.

The new season is expected to premiere in 2015.
