A new clip from this Sunday’s True Detective season 1, episode 2, finds Hart in present day explaining that he needs to relax to stay a family man.

“You gotta decompress before you go being a family man. What you get in to – working – you can’t have the kids around that. So sometimes you gotta get your head right,” Hart tells the detectives who are investigating an occult case similar to the one he cracked in 1995.

Having already seen this episode, we can tell you that during this scene Hart reveals something new about himself that will probably surprise viewers.

This week HBO also posted the show’s opening credits to YouTube. They’re the most upbeat part of the show, in our opinion:

True Detective premiered on Sunday to ratings that make it HBO’s most successful drama debut since Boardwalk Empire premiered in 2010. The Atlantic City drama starring Steve Buscemi will come to an end after season 5 later this year. Speaking of HBO closures, True Blood and The Newsroom will also come to a close this year.

Check out our recap of True Detective’s premiere episode to refresh yourself on the storyline. Episode 2, titled “Seeing Things,” premieres this Sunday, January 19 at 9 p.m. eastern/pacific. According to the synopsis, “As Cohle and Hart face being taken off the Lange case, their investigation takes them to a cathouse and a church. Meanwhile, Hart finds a way to get away from his strained marriage to Maggie.”

True Detective is an anthology series, meaning that the case and these two actors will be finished at the end of season 1. We’re already eager to see how HBO handles future seasons of the show.
