HBO will premiere True Detective episode 6 titled “Haunted Houses” tonight at 9 p.m. eastern/pacific.

UPDATE: Read our recap of tonight’s episode!

Hypable checked out the episode in advance of its premiere and can promise that it has some of our favorite sequences yet, as tension soars between Hart and Cohle.

The synopsis for True Detective episode 6 offers just one hint into what happens: “Maggie (Michelle Monaghan) sheds light on Cohle’s activities in 2002, when his relationship with Hart fractured and he quit the force.”

A clip from the episode shows Hart and Cohle in a confrontation in the lobby of their police station. The former asks why old cases are being opened up, and Cohle pisses off his partner by telling him that all he’s good for is writing up reports. “Without me, there is no you,” Cohle tells him.

A trailer for episode 6 can be seen below:

In last week’s episode we watched Cohle examine the Yellow King, and parts of the storyline were an examination of how things tend to repeat themselves in life. Cohle’s theory was put on display as circles began to reveal themselves in the lives of the two detectives.
