As the cast and crew of True Blood continue filming their sixth season, a new actor has joined the show.

Brothers & Sisters‘ Luke Grimes will appear midway through season 6 of True Blood as James, “a circa ’70s-made vamp who is smart, spiritual and emotionally deeper than any other bloodsucker we’ve seen before,” according to TV Line.

The character description continues, “Picture a cross between Jim Morrison and Gary Clark Jr. with even more of a poet’s edge. The dude’s every women’s dream come true, and he doesn’t even know it.”

It sounds like Grimes’ role will be one beloved by viewers – and we’re imagining a big reaction to his presence if he appears at this July’s Comic-Con San Diego.

Earlier this week we learned Karolina Wydra of House fame was cast in a “badass” role.

Interesting news surrounding the production of the sixth season continues to surface. The biggest news was that True Blood’s new showrunner Mark Hudis, who had replaced creator Alan Ball at the end of season 5, left the show after filming only a few episodes. The news suggested that things within the production between Hudis and the team were rocky. Executive Producer Brian Buckner replaced Hudis and will finish the remainder of the 10 episodes the cable channel ordered.

Other new cast members for the season include Rutger Hauer, who will play someone connected to Jason and Sookie. On-set photos of the character and actor revealed an old and wild-looking character.
