Last night’s True Blood season 7 premiere wasted no time in writing longtime characters off the show. But wait.. is he/she really gone? Spoiler warning!

Yes, Tara did really die on True Blood season 7, episode 1, which aired last night on HBO. An attack by the H-Vamps reeked havoc on the human/vampire mixer at Bellefleur’s, and Tara was absolutely one of the victims.

But!

Speaking to reporters at the True Blood season 7 premiere recently, actress Rutina Wesley confirmed that Tara will be making appearances in the episodes ahead. “Tara is really dead,” she said, “But dead doesn’t always mean gone on True Blood.”

According to TV Line, Tara’s mother’s visions will play into how Tara makes a return in the season 7 episodes that lie ahead. Dead Tara will be “basically human Tara, but softer,” Wesley said.

Last night, viewers were wondering if Tara’s death wasn’t all it was cracked up to be when we saw Lettie Mae grieving with blood all over her, but her daughter’s body was nowhere to be seen. In a way, it was foreshadowing that you haven’t seen her for the last time.

We hope that True Blood will continue to kill off characters in the final nine episodes that lie ahead. Because it’s the last season, the show has the unique opportunity to continue killing people without having to worry about how that may affect future seasons. May the bloodshed roll on!
