True Blood season 7 co-star Ryan Kwanten’s character Jason had a big sex scene at the start of last night’s episode. What was it like for him to film it?

Spoiler warning: In True Blood season 7, episode 2, Jason fantasizes about hooking up with Eric. It’s the first time we see the latter this season, and the scene is hot and steamy.

In a new interview with TV Line, Kwanten says the Eric/Jason sex scene took about two hours to film, and the two actors had been hoping to do this kind of scene for a while. “There was word on the street that a scene was coming, and to be honest, Alex and I had been — not necessarily begging to work together — but we’d been pondering the thought, ‘What if we were ever put in a scene where it was just the two of us? What would happen?’ And this is what our illustrious writers came up with.”

The actor says that the two stars were just looking to make the scene a good time. “We’re just there to have fun and to stay true to the characters. Thinking back to this particular scene, I just remember Alex and I laughing a lot,” he said.

And for those of you wondering why this fantasy happened in the first place, Kwanten reminds you about who Jason once drew blood from. “Well, obviously, Jason has had these dreams before, with other vampires whose blood he’s had. I mean, Eric’s gotten himself into some trouble, and I think Jason sensed that.” Jason took Eric’s blood in episode 9 of True Blood season 6 which aired last year, hence this sex dream.

Elsewhere in the interview, Stackhouse pushes off suggestions that this scene was shot specifically for the fans, but any True Blood diehard knows that this has been on the fandom’s wish list for a while.
