Our True Blood season 7, episode 5 recap breaks down the events of Sunday night’s episode.

The halfway point of True Blood season 7 is very busy thanks largely to a party at Sookie’s where lots of shake ups occur.

The episode kicks off with Willa agreeing to share information about Sarah Newlin’s location so long as Eric releases her. He accepts this proposition. We also learn that Sarah has a vampire sister named Amber in Dallas. Ginger hates to see them head to Texas because she’s afraid she’ll never see Eric again.

Party at Sookie’s

Lafayette and James stop by Sookie’s to check in on her. He promises to stay the night as she catches up on some long overdue sleep.

Losing a loved one can tire you out. Sookie sleeps for a full 24 hours then comes downstairs to find that a party’s been set up to fill the house with life. “What would Tara want? What would Alcide want?” Lafayette reminds her.

Bill is the first to arrive at the party and presents Sookie with a bouquet of flowers. Once every one else shows up, the party begins to hop. Even Arlene, Holly, and Jane are there to celebrate their narrow escape from the H-Vamps. Is it just us or does Bill look like the typical, awkward dad at the party?

A big moment occurs when Andy stumbles through a marriage proposal to Holly using one of Sookie’s grandmother’s rings. He explains that her time trapped with the H-vamps put everything in perspective for him. As far as we can remember, this is the first true-intentioned proposal we’ve seen on the show. Another thing off the checklist as the series closes!

Unfortunately the proposal shakes up Sookie, who wasn’t ready for such a big celebration of life so soon after Alcide’s passing. She bonds over losing a loved one with Arlene (who lost Terry).

Lafayette and James have a chat on the balcony about Jessica’s unwillingness to be loving anymore. James confirms he’s been romantic with a guy once before, which leads the two to start making out on the balcony. Moments later they start having sex in James’ car and Jessica catches them in the act (Lafayette is a top, FYI).

Upset about what she saw, Jessica talks to Jason about their less-than-fulfilling relationships and it turns into some steamy sex. Violet overhears but doesn’t intrude. We’re sure something will come of her nosiness in the near future.

Elsewhere at the party…

– Sookie notices Bill has been off during the evening. She’d be right: He’s been caught up in flashbacks this episode concerning his first learning of the forthcoming war. In present day Bill hints to Sookie that he’s interested in getting back together. Perhaps because she’s drunk, Sookie doesn’t catch on.

– Lettie Mae tries stabbing Willa to get her blood, because that’s the only way she can get in touch with Tara. When will someone just kill her? This is getting old.

– Nicole reminds everyone that it’s not normal for them to be celebrating anything right after so much tragedy. Maybe she has a point, but there’s been too many great things happening in this episode thanks to this shindig!

– With the drinks flowing, Arlene gets hit on by Keith, the vampire who saved her last episode.

– At the end of the night, Sookie puts Alcide’s jacket on like Arlene used to do with Terry’s after he died.

The almost-murder of Sarah

Eric and Pam arrive in Dallas where they find Sarah’s sister who’s infected with the virus. Amber talks about her life with Sarah and the trouble she brought on the family. Eric enlists her to help kill Sarah at a Gala she’ll be in attendance at.

Pam’s looking better than ever as she dresses for the Gala (“I’m a republi-cunt,” she jokes), and when Eric starts to get ready she notices that he’s at the second stage of his infection. “I’m going to die Pam, you have to accept that,” he warns as she begins to show a few tears.

It doesn’t take long for Eric to kill Sarah’s parents, but we won’t know if the target herself is dead until next week because Eric gets interrupted by the men who had killed his early love.

Bill!

At the end of the hour Bill discovers that he’s showing early signs of being infected (Oh man, just when there was so much good in one episode!). How will this play into his chances of getting back with Sookie? Will he be able to find a cure, and save Eric too? The clock is ticking.
