True Blood season 6 has released a new trailer, and in this one we hear a very stern threat from the Louisiana governor.

In True Blood season 6 we will see a war between the vampires and humans. This great trailer focuses on Governor Burrell’s address to the citizens of Louisiana.

“I swore an oath to serve and protect the people of this state. People, not vampires. When humans can no longer walk on their streets at night without fearing for their lives, then we have to take our streets back,” the governor tells his constituents. “As of this moment, we are closing down all vampire run businesses. That is why I say to any of you – buy a gun, stock up on wooden bullets, this is still America. You have a right to defend yourselves and the people you love.”

True Blood continues to pull from current events in the United States. In this case, the governor refers to the second amendment (the right to keep and bear arms). In past seasons we’ve seen references to gay marriage and religion.

The sixth season is expected to keep the focus of the show in Bon Temps after season 5’s wide spread cast of characters and locations.

True Blood season 6 premieres Sunday, June 16 on HBO. A new teaser poster released in recent weeks suggests that a major death is coming for at least one of the male characters.
