HBO has unveiled a second True Blood season 6 trailer, and in it we get one of our best looks yet at the forthcoming season.

True Blood season 6’s trailer paints a grim picture for Bon Temps. “It feels like the world is spinning out of control,” says Jessica. “I can barely remember the last time I wasn’t in danger,” adds Sookie.

Elsewhere in the trailer we see all of our favorite characters including Pam, Jason, Eric, and Lafayette. Eric in particular has bad news for Sookie: Bill may be after them, and to make matters worse the entire state of Louisiana has declared war against them.

At least one new character appears to make his debut: Macklyn played by Rutger Hauer. He is “a mysterious and sinister figure with deep ties to Sookie and Jason,” according to previous reports.

In recent weeks HBO has released True Blood season 6 behind the scenes looks including one where Sookie has to intervene in a tense situation before Jason kills Eric’s sister. A second, character-less promo highlights the fact that there will be a Tru Blood shortage in Bon Temps.

True Blood season 6’s air date is June 16 at 9 p.m. eastern/pacific on HBO. The sixth season will consist of 10 episodes, which makes it the shortest season to date.
