On the True Blood season 6 premiere, we saw the death of one of the characters. Now the cast is talking about the another major death coming later in the season.

True Blood showrunner Brian Bucker reveals to Rolling Stone Magazine that, “One of our principal characters will not make it all the way through the season. We’re going to stop to grieve them, and try to tell the more human side of the supernatural stories we’re telling.”

Obviously, the cast isn’t revealing who is going to die. However, they are talking about how the death affected the close knit group of actors.

Carrie Preston (who plays Arlene) tells People that when they filmed the death this season, “there were real tears.”

Ryan Kwanten (who plays Jason) actually calls the moment “heartbreaking” when he spoke with E! Online. “I was actually quite surprised that we had survived as long as we have without any true main cast dying,” Kwanten says. “It was tough; even in the table read when we knew that this character was going to go, there were tears galore.”

Joe Manganiello (who plays Alcide) also reveals an interesting tidbit. Whenever a character dies on True Blood, they bring in a red velvet cake to honor the death. Like his co-stars Manganiello talks about the sadness of the moment. “The table read was really sad, heartfelt. That person cried. We all clapped, and then in True Blood fashion, we had red velvet cake.”
