TriStar Pictures’ upcoming Guys and Dolls adaptation has officially found its director.

According to Deadline, director Bill Condon has officially signed on to helm the upcoming Guys and Dolls adaptation coming down the pipeline at TriStar Pictures.

The forthcoming movie musical is based on the hit, Tony Award winning Broadway musical of the same name, which first debuted back in 1950. Set during the Depression era in Times Square, the musical tells the story of a few big city gamblers and the women who love them.

It was previously adapted for the big screen back in 1955 and featured a star-studded cast comprised of Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons, Frank Sinatra, and Vivian Blane.

Currently, there’s no word on who might star in newest big screen adaptation of Guys and Dolls.

As for Condon, the Academy Award winning director is no stranger to movie musicals, making him the perfect person to helm the new TriStar adaptation.

Condon’s previous credits include bringing both Chicago, Dreamgirls, and Disney’s live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast to the big screen. In addition, he also served as co-writer on The Greatest Showman.

TriStar Pictures has yet to reveal when we might expect to see the Guys and Dolls movie musical premiere in theaters.
