Trials of Apollo by Rick Riordan has a lot of fans excited to see some favorite characters, and it looks like we’ll be getting exactly what we wanted!

The announcement of a third Percy Jackson series sent fans into a frenzy in October of last year. We were told it would be from Apollo’s point of view, but that we would definitely being seeing Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and many more.

Even though we already knew we would be seeing many of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Heroes of Olympus characters in this series, Riordan tweeted as much on Wednesday morning, further confirming this to be true.

It’s nice to hear this now that we’re getting closer to the release date. Riordan is probably putting final touches on The Hidden Oracle since we’re just a few months from publication. He’s also more than likely looking ahead to the next book in the series.

It’s of particular interest here that he says, “at one point or another,” suggesting the cameos will probably be spread throughout all five books. There are a lot of favorite characters in these previous two series, and many of them exist on opposite sides of the country, so it would be a bit too much to pack them all into book one.

Trials of Apollo: The Hidden Oracle will hit store shelves on May 3, 2016 and follow the story of Apollo, who has angered Zeus and been sent to Earth in the body of a teenage boy. Read an excerpt.

Earlier this week, we also got a look at Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: The Hammer of Thor, which is book two in Riordan’s Norse mythology series. The author released the synopsis, which reads, “Thor’s hammer is missing again. The thunder god has a disturbing habit of misplacing his weapon – the mightiest force in the Nine Worlds – but this time the hammer isn’t just lost. It has fallen into enemy hands. If Magnus Chase and his friends can’t retrieve the hammer quickly, the mortal worlds will be defenseless against an onslaught of giants. Ragnarok will begin. The Nine Worlds will burn. Unfortunately, the only person who can broker a deal for the hammer’s return is the gods’ worst enemy, Loki — and the price he wants is very high.”
