If you thought Burt Gummer was down and out, you need to rewatch the first five movies and relive the awesome that is the Tremors series.

Okay, confession time. I’m unapologetically in love with the Tremors series. I own all five films and have seen that beautiful perfection that is the original Tremors countless times. It has comedy. It has action. It has Kevin Bacon.

Tremors 5: Bloodlines came out in October 2015, and yeah it was a direct-to-video film. Yeah, it wasn’t as good as the previous ones. But Michael Gross returned as Burt Gummer, and I’ll only give up on this series when he does.

It also starred Jamie Kennedy, which was actually pretty cool. Watch out for that twist near the end!

On Tuesday, Gross announced there would indeed be a sixth installment in the Tremors film franchise. Burt Gummer would be back, and so would Kennedy as Travis B. Welker. Director Don Michael Paul, who helmed Bloodlines will also be returning.

You’ll note in the comments that Gross has responded to a couple of fans who had questions for him, namely about whether or not we’d see Burt in Kevin Bacon’s upcoming Tremors television series. Unfortunately, Gross has said he hasn’t been contacted.

A Tremors installment without Burt Gummer is unheard of, and already fans are disgruntled that the iconic character won’t be showing up in the series.

Bacon, who portrayed Valentine McKee in the original, is currently working with Amazon for the series, which may or may not adhere to the mythology established by the other movies.

Val hasn’t shown up in any installment other than the first, so for long-time, die-hard Tremors fans, things are feeling a little tense between the two projects.

Time will tell if they’ll begin working together or if Bacon’s series will prove to be more of a separate entity.
