The first trailer for Matt Reeves’ The Batman is here and it offers up a taste of what fans can expect from the highly anticipated film.

Fans itching to see Robert Pattinson in action as the caped crusader can now do so thanks to the first trailer for director Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

Reeves was on hand for a virtual panel over the weekend as part of DC FanDome. It was there that he revealed the first teaser for the film to fans who tuned in.

The director hasn’t shied away from sharing sneak peeks of the highly anticipated film, but the newest teaser offers up our best look yet at Pattinson’s take on Gotham’s resident vigilante.

In addition, we also get some great first looks at Jeffrey Wright’s Commissioner Gordon, as well as Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman. Perhaps most exciting, is the prospect of the ever looming Riddler, who already seems to be wrecking havoc in Gotham City.

One look at the first teaser for The Batman and it’s clear to see that we’re catching up with Bruce Wayne in his younger years.

Fans already rolling their eyes over the prospect of yet another Batman origin story can rest easy, however. As Reeves explained during the DC FanDome panel, the movie is “not an origins tale, but you’re meeting him in the early days.”

“A lot of the other (cinema) stories showed he had to master his fear and himself, to become Batman,” said Reeves according to Deadline. “We met in the middle of this criminological experiment and watch him make mistakes.”

“He’s not having any of the effect that he wants to have, and that’s when the murders begin to happen.”

Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, production on The Batman has come to a grinding halt. That being said, it seems as though Warner Brothers still plans for the film to hit theaters sometime next year in 2021.
