We’re nearly at the premiere date for the final season of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and the CW has released a teaser to get us ready for season 4.

On Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom) has found herself in a lot of outrageous messes and tight scrapes before, but nothing has been quite as outrageous as where we find her at the start of season 4. After pleading guilty “just for the symbolism of it,” as she says in the trailer, we find Rebecca in jail.

Things are really serious for Rebecca, but that hasn’t stopped her from processing big, hard-to-grasp aspects of her life with musical theater numbers. While we don’t see any shots of her singing, we do get a bit of a glimpse of the highly anticipated “Cell Block Tango” inspired song.

And while Rebecca has her #girlgroup to support her through this rough time, including her bestie Paula who is working overtime to spring Rebecca, not everyone in West Covina is doing well with her recent incarceration. We see a quick shot of a very sad-looking Josh Chan, and Nathaniel Plimpton, Rebecca’s boss and love interest in season 3 is resorting to wildly reckless behavior, going on extreme trips with very ominous names like a “Death Wish Adventure” to help him “reset.”

It seems everyone in West Covina is struggling after Rebecca went to prison. Hopefully, Paula’s top-notch lawyering can get Rebecca released quickly–ideally before Nathaniel gets himself killed on his next “Death Wish Adventure.”

We’re so incredibly sad that we’ll have to bid farewell to Crazy Ex-Girlfriend at the end of this season, but it seems like the show’s executive producers, Aline Brosh McKenna and Rachel Bloom are setting us up for a finale fit for the most theatrical and spectacular of Rebecca Bunch’s fantasies. With great guest stars like Nia Vardalos, Tan France, and Skylar Astin as “new Greg,” we know this show is going to go out on a definite high note.

The final season of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will premiere on The CW on October 12.
