The first teaser for Toy Story 4 is here, and while we’re thrilled to reunite with our old toy pals, it seems one new “toy” isn’t feeling the love.

When most of us watched Toy Story 3, we all assumed we were watching our last adventure with Woody, Buzz, Jess, and our favorite gang of toys. However, every ending is a new beginning, especially since Andy gifted all of his beloved plastic pals to his neighbor, Bonnie. So while Woody’s story with Andy might be done, Toy Story 4 has a whole new set of adventures in store for us with brand new friends.

The Toy Story 4 teaser is here to get you excited for this new chapter. Of course, this is only a teaser, so it doesn’t really give us a glimpse into the adventures headed our way, but we do get to meet one of the new friends from Bonnie’s room: Forky, voiced by the hilarious Tony Hale.

While Woody and the gang seem pretty excited to be together, Forky is less than enthused about his newfound role as a child’s toy. He tries his best to break away from the happy gang of toys, shouting out that he doesn’t belong there. And unlike Buzz’s delusions of grandeur when he first arrived in Andy’s room, Forky is actually kind of correct about not being a toy.

As a spork that has been given a face and arms thanks to some googly eyes and pipe cleaners, Forky really isn’t a toy as much as he’s a utensil that has been used in a crafting session. We’re not sure how much of Toy Story 4 will be about Forky’s existential crisis, we do know that the film will feature constant attempts to remove himself from the crazy adventures with Woody and the gang–unsuccessfully, of course.

Pixar also released a synopsis for the film today: “Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called ‘Forky’ to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.”

Added director Josh Cooley, “Like most people, I assumed that ‘Toy Story 3’ was the end of the story. And it was the end of Woody’s story with Andy. But just like in life, every ending is a new beginning. Woody now being in a new room, with new toys, and a new kid, was something we have never seen before. The questions of what that would be like became the beginning of an entertaining story worth exploring.”

Concerning Forky, he said, “The world of Toy Story is built upon the idea that everything in the world has a purpose. A toy’s purpose is to be there for its child. But what about toys that are made out of other objects? Forky is a toy that Bonnie made out of a disposable spork, so he’s facing a crisis. He wants to fulfill his purpose as a spork, but now has a new toy purpose thrust upon him.”

With the hilarious Tony Hale voicing Forky, we know we’re all going to instantly fall in love with Forky and his search for his true identity. Thankfully, with friends like Woody and Buzz, we know that Forky will ultimately be okay, even if he never finds his way back to the utensil drawer.

We’ll get to reunite with Woody and the gang and meet Forky for ourselves when Toy Story 4 premieres in theaters in the summer of 2019.
