There’s no doubt that Toy Story holds a special place in all of our hearts. Could a fourth installment be good or bad news for the franchise?

Earlier today Toy Story 4 news started trending worldwide on Twitter when a Colombian news site alleged that Disney has given the project a green light. However, Hypable followed up and confirmed with Disney that in fact there is no official word on a fourth installment of the franchise.

All signs are pointing toward another sequel, however. Disney has kept the franchise alive with Toy Story Toons that have aired before several major Pixar releases. The studio is also slating a Halloween TV special titled Toy Story of Terror for October of this year.

So what if a Toy Story 4 movie gets made? Overwhelmingly, people seem very against the idea. After the magic that was Toy Story 3 (don’t act like you didn’t tear up at the end), most people, including many Hypable commenters, think that the story is over and Pixar shouldn’t attempt to “ruin” one of the best movie projects of all time.

I, however, think Toy Story 4 would be fantastic. I think if a fourth movie is made, it could launch a whole new trilogy for the world of talking toys. I agree that Andy’s plot is done and was wrapped up nicely. But what if we had a whole new kid, with whole new toys, and an occasional throw in to the original three Toy Story movies just to make sure we have that Toy Story nostalgia that we all love?

The fact of the matter is that Toy Story 3 was not only a huge success at the box office, it was also critically acclaimed in just about every avenue of the film. Had the film done well, but maybe not been critically acclaimed, maybe Disney would have tied the bow on the series and called it a day. But with the success of the film as a standalone piece, it only makes sense to continue with that same formula!

A Toy Story 4 doesn’t necessarily mean the continuation of Buzz, Woody and Andy (though you have to expect them to be part of the film in some way!). Would you like to see Toy Story 4?
