The sequel to the highly successful and critically acclaimed Rome: Total War (2004) has been announced by Sega and developers Creative Assembly.

Rome II will feature the same epic battles that fans of the Total War franchise know and love, and this time, a huge graphical overhaul will add even more spice to these encounters. There will also be a larger map than in Rome I, plus extra backstabbing and political intrigue. The official website also promises a “completely scalable experience…optimised for your PC or laptop.”

A live action trailer has also been released, highlighting the many choices and foes that await you in Rome II.

Rome II is expected to release in the second half of 2013.
