TIME has published a list of the Top 10 Fiction Books released in 2012, and impressively John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars takes the top spot.

“John Green, writing with wit, unpretentious clarity and total emotional honesty, clears away the clichés to reveal the hardest possible truths, which Grace and her boyfriend Augustus have to face head on,” writes TIME. “The Fault in Our Stars is a love story, one of the most genuine and moving ones in recent American fiction, but it’s also an existential tragedy of tremendous intelligence and courage and sadness.”

The rest of the list is as follows:
2) Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel
3) Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk by Ben Fountain
4) At Last by Edward St. Aubyn
5) The Girl Who Fell Beneath Fairyland and Led the Revels There by Catherynne Valente
6) The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling
7) Building Stories by Chris Ware
8) NW by Zadie Smith
9) Where’d You Go, Bernadette? by Maria Semple
10) This Is How You Lose Her by Junot Diaz

Despite The Fault in Our Stars‘ release way back in January, the book continues to pick up momentum as work begins on a film adaptation produced by Wyck Godfrey. We spoke to him on the red carpet of Breaking Dawn – Part 2 last month where he excitedly spoke to us about the project.

While we wait for the film, check out our picks for who should play Augustus and Hazel.
