The Maze Runner took over Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con 2014, and gave us a great look at the upcoming film.

The Maze Runner has been making the press rounds at Comic-Con this year, and the panel did not disappoint. The guests included Director Wes Ball, author James Dashner, Will Poulter (Gally), Kaya Scodelario (Teresa), and Dylan O’Brien (Thomas). The panel included a lot of footage and some great banter from the cast, but what were the top five moments?

1. They debuted the second trailer for ‘Maze Runner’

At the panel, they debuted the second trailer for The Maze Runner. Although there were some scenes that we had already viewed in the first one, the second trailer definitely gave us a better look at the maze and how truly terrifying it will be for both the characters and the audience.

2. Will Poulter and Dylan O’Brien actually do like each other

Although Will Poulter and Dylan O’Brien’s characters, Gally and THomas respectively, didn’t get on too well in The Maze Runner, Poulter assured the audience that he and O’Brien were “bromantic” in real life. Maze Runner was shot in a relatively short amount of time, but it was great seeing that the cast had become quite close regardless.

3. James Dashner approves

The author of the series, James Dashner, has made it no secret that he loves the film adaptation of his book. But there are always challenges when it comes to making a movie from a novel, and some things had to be cut. Was there anything Dashner wasn’t happy about? It was a pretty immediate no from the writer, who stated that every change made perfect sense. You don’t get higher praise than that!

4. We saw the Grievers

Director Wes Ball has been keeping the Grievers pretty well hidden in all of the promo material for The Maze Runner so far, and that was done very deliberately. He didn’t want to ruin what they looked like, other than by saying he was inspired by Jurassic Park and Alien, which gave them a monster movie aspect he wanted to surprise the audience with when they saw the movie in the theatres. But we were lucky enough to view an entire clip of Grievers, and we can assure you that they are absolutely terrifying.

5. ‘The Scorch Trials’ is a definite possibility

That’s right, Maze Runner fans. If the first movie does well, a sequel could definitely be made. Wes Ball says they’re gearing up to shoot the second movie in the fall or winter and even showed us a piece of concept art for what the world would look like in The Scorch Trials. The second movie is not set in stone, though, so it’s important that you go watch Maze Runner in the theatre when it comes out and spread the word!
