These five summer movies looked like they could have landed on a top blockbusters list, but instead they’re the top five biggest summer box office flops of 2015.

We expected many of these films to do well, and some of them to even jump-start franchises with sequels and future films being scheduled for excited movie studios. With actors like George Clooney, Emma Stone, and Bradley Cooper, including some very exciting directors, one would think everyone would be headed to the theaters, but these five movies are the biggest financial flops of summer 2015.

1.’Tomorrowland’

Studio: Disney
Budget: $190 million
Global gross: $208.4 million
Expected loss: $120 million-$150 million

Disney is expecting a massive loss from Tomorrowland, and while Inside Out ($700+ million) and The Avengers: Age of Ultron ($1.4+ billion) will help offset the flop, they reportedly also felt like Age of Ultron was a financial disappointment. This was mostly due to the fact that it made less than The Avengers ($1.5 billion).

2. ‘Fantastic Four’

Studio: Fox
Budget: $125 million
Global gross: $146.7 million
Expected loss: $80 million-$100 million

Fantastic Four was the most talked about flop of the year, and while it won’t necessarily represent the biggest loss of money, the sheer amount of negative press this film received should have Fox worried. The potential for any and all sequels should have vanished, yet Fox plans to release one next June, but it’s back to square one for this franchise.

3. ‘Pixels’

Studio: Sony
Budget: $88+ million
Global gross: $186.4 million
Expected loss: $75+ million

Pixels looked promising, and it seemed like a possible franchise for Sony, but they’re expected to lose over $75 million after the dust settles. There’s hope, though, as the film will be released in China at the end of September, which is the second largest market for American films.

4. ‘The Man From U.N.C.L.E.’

Studio: Warner Bros.
Budget: $75+ million
Global gross: $72.1 million
Expected loss: $80+ million

While The Man From U.N.C.L.E. had director Guy Ritchie at the helm, and Superman actor Henry Cavill co-starring, the film took in a measly $72.1 million worldwide. Reports suggest that the film could have done better, but it was going up against both Mad Max: Fury Road and San Andreas, which together took in almost $1 billion worldwide.

5. ‘Aloha’

Studio: Sony/Fox
Budget: $37+ million
Global gross: $26.2 million
Expected loss: $65 million

We don’t know what is worse, the fact that Aloha was a financial disappointment, or that it was one of the worst movies of the year (possibly ever?). Starring Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone, one would think it’d be a guaranteed hit, but Aloha proved even a great director (Cameron Crowe) and cast can’t save a film with even a modest budget.

Let us know which movies you thought were disappointments out of 2015’s summer blockbusters, and did any of these five movies surprise you when they flopped?
