The talent coming out of Los Angeles for the season 12 auditions is being billed as the best yet, both for Team Stage and Team Street.
Auditions have swept through Memphis, Dallas, and Detroit in the last few weeks, sending lots of talented dancers through to Vegas. But this week’s crop of talent from Los Angeles looks to be the most promising. So You Think You Can Dance Executive Producer and Judge Nigel Lythgoe says L.A.’s auditions are the best in the show’s history, which, in the 12th season, is saying a lot.

It looks like the talent is pretty evenly split, between both Team Stage and Team Street. L.A. is obviously a hot spot for the dance industry, so it’s no surprise that the city has a lot to contribute.

This is interesting because he references the return of JaJa Vankova, an incredible street dancer who auditioned for So You Think You Can Dance last season, and just missed out on making it into the top 20. This year, because of the new format, she wouldn’t have to contend with mastering all the stage styles in order to make it into the top 20. Hopefully this is JaJa’s year!
