The premiere episode of NBC’s Constantine airs tonight, and we finally get to see our favorite ‘petty dabbler’ in the Dark Arts in action.

Welcome, John Constantine

The wait is finally over, and television’s latest foray into the comic book adaption is hitting our screens. But unlike the usual heroes we’ve been graced with, Constantine promises something a little bit different. The titular chain-smoking, foul-mouthed Liverpudlian is a con man turned supernatural detective, who has the tendency to be callous, cynical and unafraid to do whatever is necessary — as Matt Ryan told us earlier this month at New York Comic-Con.

Simply put, he’s an asshole. But he’s the asshole standing between everyone and the dark forces rising up to destroy everything in its path. If that doesn’t make for a largely-flawed and interesting anti-hero, we don’t know what will!

So, here’s everything you need to get yourself ready ahead of the episode tonight.

‘Constantine’ premiere synopsis

“SERIES PREMIERE – JOHN CONSTANTINE TAKES ON A RISING DARKNESS AS HE FIGHTS TO RECLAIM HIS SOUL – JEREMY DAVIES AND LUCY GRIFFITHS GUEST STAR – Based on the wildly popular comic book series “Hellblazer” from DC Comics, seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult John Constantine (Matt Ryan) is armed with a ferocious knowledge of the dark arts and a wickedly naughty wit. He fights the good fight — or at least he did.

With his soul already damned to hell, he’s decided to abandon his campaign against evil until a series of events thrusts him back into the fray when an old friend’s daughter (guest star Lucy Griffiths) becomes the target of supernatural forces. Harold Perrineau and Charles Halford also star.”

If that wasn’t enough, NBC also released 26 stills from the premiere episode. We’ve included a handful of our favorites here, but you can see the rest of them in this post.

Can’t watch the episode live?

Don’t stress if you can’t watch Constantine’s premiere episode, “Non Est Asylum,” live. NBC offers episodes of their shows online, so you won’t miss out!

Prefer to download? Amazon and iTunes both have Constantine listed in their respective stores, so we imagine the show will be available after it airs on NBC.
