American Horror Story: Freak Show returns tonight with episode two “Massacres and Matinees” featuring new arrivals, a looming threat of closure, and a new prospect for Twisty.

American Horror Story: Freak Show was met with record audiences for last week’s premiere, already sealing the deal for a fifth installment of the series. On top of the success story are veteran actors returning with already stunning performances and a creator whose imagination knows no bounds. Mix in a killer clown lurking in broad daylight and the expert special effects team to create a seamless two-headed actress and you have yourself a hit.

Filled to the brim with people of all shapes and sizes the community built under Elsa’s guiding hand is anything but threatened by the outside world. Inside the tents they are the only people who matter and when one of their own is threatened, they turn.

Outside of the tent lurk those who claim that to be “other” is a curse, yet on the inside their differences are that which draw them to seek fear and pleasure in the freak show. One person who has something different in mind for the freak show’s purpose is a clown by the name of Twisty.

This week’s episode marks the first appearance of Patti LaBelle as the Mott’s maid, Nora. Joining her debut, Michael Chiklis and Angela Bassett arrive to the camp as an act on the run from a crime most damning in the small circle of circus folk. But will they be welcome?
