TXT aren’t rookies anymore! TOMORROW X TOGETHER chatted with us about their grown since their debut, writing The Dream Chapter: ETERNITY, and how thankful they are for their supportive MOAs.

TOMORROW X TOGETHER, who also go by the shortened name TXT, debuted on March 4, 2019. Since then they’ve already been able to release multiple albums and singles, launching them into a rapidly growing fame.

Through the past year, the members have shown that they’re ready to take on all the challenges that have been thrown their way. Including releasing The Dream Chapter: ETERNITY during the COVID-19 pandemic which limited the promotions they were able to do, but allowed them to get new music to MOAs in this time of need.

The lead single from their album The Dream Chapter: ETERNITY “Can’t You See Me?” is a unique pop song that easily gets stuck in the listener’s heads. The lyrics and the music video for the single tackle the subject of what happens when friendships turn sour and the emotions of not feeling understood.

The Dream Chapter: ETERNITY is available for streaming on Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon.

Check out our interview with TOMORROW X TOGETHER below:

With each album you’ve been able to become more creatively involved, what has that been like for you and how have you been striving to get there?

Yeonjun: We have a lot of talented producers here in Big Hit who are always trying very hard to create the best album, which means opportunities to participate in the song-making process don’t come too often. So when I was given the chance write the rap lyrics for “Fairy of Shampoo,” I remember pouring everything into it.

Huening Kai: Working on “Maze in the Mirror” as a team, as TOMORROW X TOGETHER, was an amazing experience. Our members were great positive influences on me. Working with them encouraged me grow and learn in terms of music, and also allowed me to set a goal to make a great song that could impact other people.

What was it like co-writing “Maze in the Mirror”? Did you all work separately or together as a group?

TOMORROW X TOGETHER: The fourth track, “Maze in the Mirror” is a song that we all made together. As a lot of our fans know already, we even came up with the song’s title, so it’s extra precious and meaningful to us. BEOMGYU first kicked off the project and the rest of us all joined by adding lyrics and melodies, and contributing with our own thoughts. We included nothing but the best! As a team we intend to keep making music and we’re excited to share them all with our fans!

Every album feels more mature than the last, what has it been like to grow up with and through your music?

TOMORROW X TOGETHER: As artists, it’s really exciting to be able to work with so many genres. It’s a real learning opportunity and we have grown a lot by implementing these musical styles in our own unique way. In our latest EP, we got to deal with pop, hip-hop, acoustic and their sub-genres like dream pop.

We were also able to include unique instrumentation such as horns or a cappella. For us, The Dream Chapter: ETERNITY is definitely an EP that reflects our diverse colors as a group. Moving on, we want to continue to explore what’s out there and not feel afraid to try new things. And we think it’s something our fans can definitely look forward to.

It’s been over a year since your debut, what’s your favorite memory and best lesson since then?

TOMORROW X TOGETHER: Every moment has been special, but that time when the name of our fandom, MOA, was finally revealed to the world was definitely unforgettable! Other great moments would be the Wango Tango performance and our debut showcase in the U.S., along with visiting New York to perform at KCON.

Something we’ve really learned is how thankful we are for our fans and their love and support. We want to give them our all and do the absolute best for them on stage. As we’ve entered our second year as a group, we do feel a greater sense of responsibility both as a team and as individuals.

All your choreography is amazing but “Can’t You see me?” is my new favorite. There’s so much emotion you’re able to convey all while making it fun to watch. How does it compare for you from past choreography?

Beomgyu: A lot of our previous choreography was mostly big, sharp and energetic movements, but our newest title track, “Can’t You See Me?” has a choreography that is focused more on delivering detailed and delicate emotions. Since this song expresses the complex emotions that follow a discord within friendship, we used movements that best portray these feelings.

Taehyun: Exactly! For example, there is a part in the choreography for “Can’t You See Me?” that has us wiping off blood. This represents our emotions after the argument with our friends; we are resenting and blaming each other.

On the other hand, we still believe in our friendship and hope that our relationship will last forever. This is expressed by hand gestures which symbolize lies and promises. Like these, there are a lot more emotions woven into the choreography, so I’m sure you’ll find the dance much more interesting if you keep this in mind.

Even without all the regular promotions right now, The Dream Chapter: ETERNITY has been topping charts, were you worried at all how things would work this time around?

Soobin: Rather than be worried, we decided to pour everything into practicing and perfecting our performances for our fans, MOA. Regardless of all, we wanted to make sure we stayed in touch with them in the ways we could through Weverse and Twitter. I think our fans can recognize our efforts, so we feel pretty good about it.

Music can be a great source of strength for fans right now, did working on this album help you too?

TOMORROW X TOGETHER: It definitely has. Working on this album has been quite a journey. We’ve always strived to make music that can give people hope and positivity, and we feel we have definitely matured both musically and as a team throughout the album-making process. It’s really thanks to the overwhelming support from our fans.
