Tom Hiddleston discusses his character Loki and how he’ll be involved in Thor: The Dark World after being brought back to Asgard in The Avengers.

In a recent on set interview, Hiddleston discussed his role in Thor: The Dark World, which hits theaters November 8. The actor reveals that Loki is back in Asgard after the battle of New York in The Avengers and said, “what’s exciting about this film is that it depicts the aftermath of those events and you get to see the opinion of certain principle characters in Asgard.”

He explained that what’s great about Thor’s sequel is that, “you get to see every character’s perspective on what Loki did and they tend to be different and disparate and varying in tone and empathy, certainly.”

He said he was happy to see Loki’s story continue and not repeat itself, since the last time Loki was in Asgard he had disappeared into a wormhole and then appeared on Earth during The Avengers.

He tells Collider that “now he’s [Loki] back in Asgard a different being and therefore the chemistry he creates just by being back here is unpredictable and fantastic.” It seems like Loki’s behavior on Earth will be extremely important in Thor: The Dark World in terms of how his character is perceived by other characters.

We’re glad they don’t just gloss over the fact that Loki tried to destroy Earth, but we know from the trailers that Thor asks Loki for help when he’s in dire need.

While Hiddleston couldn’t say whether the tesseract was still a factor in the sequel, he did say that there would be an entire scene dedicated to whether Loki felt guilty for the destruction he caused on Earth. He seemed very open to discussing the film which is just over a month away from its release.

Also released today were some HD images from Thor: The Dark World which feature Loki, as well as Thor and Chris Eccleston as the film’s villain. Check them out below:

Thor: The Dark World continues to look more and more like it will trump the first film, as the footage seen in the latest trailer was riveting. We’re seeing a much darker film than before, and while the comedy aspects are still present, we can tell that Game of Thrones’ director Alan Taylor has had a huge impact on the style of the film.

This film will certainly be Marvel’s transition into Guardians of the Galaxy, which will be a very space-filled film. Thor’s sequel is looking very promising and we’re excited for its November 8 release date.
