A new report not from a British tabloid reveals that Tom Hiddleston is currently chatting to James Bond producers about becoming the next 007.

Birth Movies Death, a reputable movie outlet, reports that beloved actor Tom Hiddleston is currently in talks to be the next James Bond, for what would be the 25th installment in the long-running spy series. “Choosing words carefully, our source confirms that while talks have indeed taken place, and that Hiddleston very much wants the job (a fact of which he’s made no secret), no official offer has been made — yet,” BMD says.

Hiddleston would obviously be a very exciting choice for the role. The actor shot to super stardom after becoming Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact, he could potentially pull a younger audience into Bond thanks to Thor.

It’s still possible that Daniel Craig will keep the role for another movie or two, though he seems to hate it at this point. As BMD points out, this could also be a way for Eon Productions — who own the rights to the James Bond franchise — to get Craig to move on a decision about his future as 007.

Hiddleston has spoken about his love for James Bond as recently as March, and hinted that he’d seriously consider the role if it were offered to him. “I simply love the theme tune, the tropes and the mythology. I love the whole thing. If it ever came knocking, it would be an extraordinary opportunity. And I’m very aware of the physicality of the job. I would not take it lightly,” he said earlier this year.
