AMC has booked British stars Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie for the upcoming miniseries, The Night Manager.

AMC has won a bidding war among various networks to produce the television adaptation of The Night Manager by British spy novelist John le Carre.

Undoubtedly, the cast already attached was part of the project’s draw. Tom Hiddleston (you probably remember him from Thor, The Avengers, and Thor: The Dark World, right?) has signed on to play the role of Jonathan Pine — a former British soldier who is now the hotel night manager of the title.

If Tom Hiddleston’s involvement weren’t pedigree enough, fellow Brit Hugh Laurie is also signed to play Pine’s nemesis in The Night Manager. Laurie will play Richard Onslow Roper, a black-market dealer whose business crosses over with Pine’s life — with deadly consequences.

Le Carre’s story of murder, spies, and risk-laden sting operations will be adapted for television by David Farr.

The Night Manager marks Laurie’s first return to television after the conclusion of House in 2012. The series will be Hiddleston’s first foray into live American television — though he has lent his voice to the animated comedies Robot Chicken and Family Guy.

AMC has already picked up The Night Manager to series. Though the network gave no official comment on the acquisition, the mystery miniseries is rumored to air in six to eight parts, and will be produced in partnership with the BBC.
