A couple weeks ago, we brought you an interview where Tom Hardy compared shooting a film like The Dark Knight Rises to working for Starbucks.  After collective uproars from fans, Hardy has explained himself.

In a recent interview for his new film Warrior, Tom Hardy, the actor who plays Bane in the final installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman series, admitted feeling hurt after seeing some of the fans respond to his Starbucks claim, and tried to explain himself a little better.

I’m really sorry if anyone misunderstood what I said about comparing working for a huge franchise to being like working for Starbucks. I didn’t mean it like that. I mean, it could have been British Airways, it could have been Virgin, it could have been Nike, it could have been any huge company.

I’m human and I do read things and I get hurt, my friends say, ‘Don’t read anything, just ignore it,’ but I do. And I read comics. And I cry.

Hardy seemed truly sincere in his apology.  We understand where he was coming from in the first place, after all Batman is a franchise.  Admittedly, it would have been better if he had picked a franchise other than the much hated Starbucks to compare it to.

Do you understand what Tom Hardy was getting at? If not, do you accept his apology? Let us know!
