It looks like Sony is betting big on Tom Hardy ’s Venom making a huge splash when the anti-hero Spider-Man spinoff film eventually hits the big screen.

There’s been a lot of buzz surrounding Sony’s upcoming solo Venom film ever since the first trailer hit the internet earlier this year.

The upcoming solo movie sets up infamous Spidey foe, Eddie Brock, aka Venom, who suddenly finds his body invaded by a symbiotic that invades his entire system and arms him with some pretty sick superpowers.

Those powers, however, come at a price and as comic book fans have seen over the years, Eddie’s alter ego hasn’t always used those powers for good.

Both trailers for a film do a great job of setting up Eddie Brock’s upcoming anti-hero storyline, set to hit the big screen in just a few months. Now, it’s sounding as though the upcoming film may just present fans with one chapter of a much longer story.

In a recent interview with Total Film magazine, star Tom Hardy revealed that he’s signed up for not one, but THREE Venom movies.

The news comes as a pleasant surprise for fans who just can’t wait for the anti-hero to hit the big screen — especially given that the studio has yet to announce their plans to turn the film into a trilogy.

“I’m open to whatever you want to do with it,” said Hardy. “We’ve signed up for three of them so it’s very much an open case. we’ll see what people’s responses are to it.”

Directed by Ruben Fleischer and starring Hardy, Michelle Williams, Woody Harrelson, Jenny Slate, and Riz Ahmed, Venom hits theaters on October 5, 2018.
