A modern Civil War (no, not that one). A young and sexy Shakespeare. Here are two new TNT pilots relevant to our interests.

It looks like we’ve just identified the latest TV trend: youth-skewered popular history series! We wonder what brought on that craze?

Via Deadline, TNT has ordered two very interesting new pilots, both exploring iconic historical figures and events.

First up there’s Civil, the ‘modern-day Civil War’ pilot, which isn’t just some angry superheroes bickering about who killed whose dad. Rather, the Scott Smith drama takes place “in the wake of a hotly contested Presidential election, as America finds itself plunging uncontrollably into a modern day Civil War.”

We’re not sure if this is indeed a fiction series, or just a planned documentary for if and when Trump takes office.

Meanwhile, The Wrap has the scoop on Will, a drama chronicling the life and legend of a young William Shakespeare. (Clearly, the biggest question we all have is why this series isn’t called Bill, but whatever.)

Played by Laurie Davidson, William ‘the Bard’ Shakespeare is a young and hungry dreamer arriving “onto the punk-rock theater scene in 16th century London.”

Jamie Campbell Bower of Harry Potter and Mortal Instruments fame co-stars with Olivia DeJonge, Colm Meaney, Mattias Inwood, and Ewe Bremner.

Says Executive Vice President of Original Programming Saray Aubrey: “Will has an energy and style that is unlike anything else on television today. Shakespeare was a 16th century rock star, and Will perfectly captures in contemporary terms what that must have felt like for the young writer and his fans.”

Anyone else getting very strong Hamilton vibes from that last one? We hope there’s gonna be Shakespearean rap battles.
